Still looking for a few Christmas gifts? Want something for yourself? Maybe you just want to get off the beach for the morning? The perfect day out can be had at the Eumundi Markets, a Sunshine Coast institution living by their motto of Make it, Bake it, Sew it, Grow it.
The markets began in the 1970s with 8 stallholders embracing the Peace Love and Happiness vibe and farmers with some excess produce. Now, the Eumundi Markets has grown into a huge twice weekly event of over 250 stalls, but still with that same community and homegrown feel.
All of the stall holders here are locals, and the majority make and produce their own wares. From jewellery to art, clothing to ceramics, curry pastes, fruit and vegies to the best market food on the coast, there’s something for everyone. It’s the perfect place to wander under the shade of the trees and pick out a souvenir from your holiday at Noosa Heads Motel or a Christmas gift for the hard-to-buy-for.
Even those who hate shopping will love sitting down with a loaded donut, pork dumpling, vegan curry or a coffee and watching the passing parade of street performers, visitors from out of town, locals who’ve dressed up for the occasion and everyone (and thing!) in between. There’s never a shortage of organised entertainment or unintentional curiosities at the Eumundi Markets; even the kids are well catered for with face painting, pony rides and a wonderful playground (completely free!!) right next to the stalls.
Located a beautiful 20 minute drive through rolling hills, Eumundi Markets is in the middle of Eumundi itself, a gorgeous country town and a destination in itself.
The Markets are held every Wednesday 8am-2pm and Saturday from 7am-2pm.
